Games Vault: Glover

When it comes to video games, we often think of the main character as a strong hero, most likely with a sword, who fights bad guys, but the Hasbro Interactive Studios had a different sort of idea in the late 90s with their hero, the titular Glover.

Glover is a wizard’s glove who has come to life. After the wizard has a fatal accident and Glover’s partner glove is turned into an evil, demonic glove named Cross-Stitch, Glover has to fight through an assortment of fanciful worlds in order to restore peace to the world that his master foolishly destroyed by tampering with the darker magics, and ultimately confront his doppelganger. The wizard’s crystals, which kept the world in balance, were thrown in the explosion into several different worlds. Glover cleverly turned all of the crystals into rubber balls before they land using his magical powers, protecting them from shattering.

Glover’s main mechanic is changing the displaced magical crystal found in each world into a variety of different round objects that have different properties, allowing you to navigate the nightmarish floating platform worlds that are covered with deadly monsters and dancing magical cards. Through the use of different switches and power-ups, Glover carefully maneuvers the crystal (in the form of a ball) around an ancient temple, a circus, a pirate level, a dinosaur jungle, a Halloween palace, and a sci-fi zone to restore it to its rightful place. Glover is a challenging and fun game with a lovable hero worthy of his place of fame in the Gamespace Games Vault.

What do you think? Should Hasbro bring Glover back for another adventure, or re-release this classic title on modern consoles? Be sure to leave your comments below.

Glover is kind of a challenge, so stay tuned for an upcoming Gamespace article detailing how you can improve your game with the useful cheat codes system.

Or, you can make the camera look like this.
